MEMORANDUM

TO: Designated Agency Ethics Officials

FROM: Barbara A. Mullen-Roth Associate Director for Education

SUBJECT: OGE Ethics Training Workshops - Washington, DC

The Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct the first of its 1996 ethics training workshops in Washington, DC on February 22, March 6, and May 14, 1996. This year's workshop has been totally revamped and formatted to challenge experienced ethics practitioners with exercises that go beyond mere case studies. If you are new to the Government ethics area this course is NOT for you. However, OGE is in the process of developing an introductory ethics workshop that is expected to debut later this year.

These workshops are free to all agencies. However, advanced registration is required. To register, fax a completed registration form (attached) for the session of your choice to OGE no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled workshop. Registration is handled on a first-come basis and class size is limited to 40 participants per workshop. NO TELEPHONE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED. Registration forms should be faxed to:

Sheila Powers Conference and Training Coordinator FAX Number: 202-523-1251

OGE will confirm each student's registration by return fax no later than one week prior to the requested workshop.

Because you are our primary means for advertising these workshops, please circulate this memorandum and the attached registration forms among your ethics officials as soon as possible.

Please note that these training workshops are not intended to be used by agencies in fulfilling the annual ethics training requirement.

For your information, OGE is planning to conduct these workshops in the following locations during the remainder of fiscal year 1996:

Washington, DC Salt Lake City, UT Norfolk, VA San Antonio, TX New Orleans, LA New York, NY Chicago, IL Seattle, WA

Announcements will be disseminated as soon as final arrangements are made for workshops in these locations.

If you need additional information, you may contact Ms. Powers at 202-523-5757, extension 1104 or Rhonda Curtis at 202-523-5757, extension 1231.
