MEMORANDUM FOR DESIGNATED AGENCY ETHICS OFFICIALS AND INSPECTORS GENERAL

FROM: STUART C. GILMAN, Ph.D. ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR EDUCATION

SUBJECT: Regional Ethics Training - San Francisco, CA and Honolulu, Hawaii

The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct identical half-day regional ethics training sessions in San Francisco, CA on January 11-12, 1993, and Honolulu, Hawaii January 13-15, 1993.

Training will focus on standards of conduct and conflict of interest topics, with lecture, discussion, and case studies. It is designed for ethics practitioners with basic subject matter familiarity, who are relatively new to the ethics area or who have not previously attended OGE training. This would include those who advise an agency or staff regarding government ethics and standards of conduct, those who review financial disclosure reports, and those who investigate possible violations.

This training will emphasize the recently published new standards of conduct regulations. As usual, there is no charge for attendance. However, advance registration is required.

You are our primary means of advertising this training. Please circulate the attached notice and registration form among your ethics officials in the San Francisco and Honolulu area as soon as possible. Each person planning to attend should register either by mailing or transmitting by facsimile a completed registration form, to arrive at OGE not later than five working days before the training session date. No telephone registrations will be accepted. The mailing address is:

Sheila A. Powers Conference and Education Coordinator U.S. Office of Government Ethics 1201 New York Avenue, NW. - Suite 500 Washington, DC 20005-3917 FAX number: (202/FTS) 523-1251 or 523-6325

The copy of the registration form must be presented by the registrant in order to attend the session.

Either Sheila Powers, of my staff or I will be available on (202/FTS) 523-5757 to answer any questions concerning the training.
