Abstract:

This paper presents a rural perspective on current debates over the design and implementation of a Medicare prescription drug benefit. It discusses access to health care and various prescription drug proposals for beneficiaries living in rural areas. The paper describes how rural-oriented principles were applied to six different proposals introduced between April and August 2000. It includes tables, figures, and references.
