Services
American Battle Monuments Commission
The Commission has been responsible for planning, designing,
funding, and constructing memorials to the American Armed Forces
and where they served since World War I. The commission also manages
U.S. military cemeteries in foreign countries. This site lists all
of the U.S. military personnel killed in action in World War I,
World War II, and the Korean War.

Archives and Records Administration: Military Reference Page
The Archives military reference page is divided into five sections;
general, U.S. Department of Defense, aviation history, army history,
and navy history. Links are provided to U.S. government and privately-maintained
Internet sites focusing on U.S. involvement in past wars, current
analysis of the status of U.S. forces, characteristics of weapons,
aircraft, and ships, and other useful information about the armed
forces.

Personnel Records Center
The Center retains the military records for most veterans of
the U.S. armed forces who were discharged from the U.S. armed
forces since November 1, 1912. This site provides information
on
how family members, federal agencies, and the public can request
information from the personnel records of former servicemen.

This site is the official information site for public access
to information on and about U.S. defense policy, the organization
of the U.S. armed forces, significant developments in the services,
special reports on U.S. and foreign defense concerns. News, photos
of Department of Defense officials, speeches, advisories on foreign
travel, and other subjects of interest to the public are available.

Statistical tables and maps are available for the U.S. armed
forces for selected years since 1979. A topical index provides access
to tables on U.S. forces organized by geographic area, rank, gender,
race, and other subjects.
U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs
This site provides information for and about veterans of the
U.S. armed forces. There are sections devoted to women veterans,
minority veterans, disabled veterans, and homeless veterans. The
Department's organization, services, and publications are described
and links are provided to selected full text documents, including
annual reports, policies, news releases, and information bulletins.

Maps are available for colonial conflicts, the American Revolution,
Napoleonic Wars, the War of 1812, Mexican War, American Civil War,
Spanish-American War, Chinese Civil War, World War I, World War II,
the Korean War, the Arab-Israeli Wars, the Vietnam War, and selected
U.S. and foreign conflicts that occurred after 1958.

This is the U.S. Army’s primary producer of official histories.
There is a complete guide to current and past U.S. Army publications.
Additionally, the site has full-text citations for U.S. Army winners
of the Medal of Honor, research guides, and reports on the future
development of the U.S. Army.
U.S. Army Military History
Institute
The Institute promotes the collection of English and foreign
language books and reports about military affairs worldwide. The
web site comprises a digital library about war from ancient times
to the present, catalogs and guides to books, serials, photographs
and maps at the Institute. There are cursory descriptions about the
papers of U.S. Army officers, oral histories, and other manuscript
holdings.
