Local Ranger Districts seek grant funding for new trail signs
The Weiser and Council Ranger Districts of the Payette National Forest are applying for a Recreational Trails Program grant through the state of Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. If funded, the proposed project would result in the installation of approximately 100 new signs on more than thirty National Forest system trails. The new trail signs would be installed at trailheads and road/trail intersections throughout both districts during the 2009 field season. All work would be accomplished by Forest Service trail crew members and volunteers.
This grant application is part of the Payette National Forest program to improve signage and enhance recreation on the two districts. The proposed new signage will make it easier for forest users to travel on forest roads and trails and clarify route designations.
Comments or requests for more information about this project can be submitted to: Mike Mullin, Recreation Technician, Weiser Ranger District, 851 East 9th Street, Weiser, ID 83672, Phone 208-549-4200.
