Summary
Postdoctoral Position in Image Analysis: We are seeking highly motivated candidates for a fully funded postdoctoral position in image analysis and understanding. The selected candidate, with a typical appointment between 2~3 years, will explore highly efficient and reliable structural feature extraction and recognition algorithms, and develop software for rapidly analyzing and annotating overhead imagery (i.e., primarily aerial and satellite imagery).
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, or an interdisciplinary area that is computationally relevant to image analysis and computer vision.
- Strong computational (algorithm design and development) and programming skills (e.g. C/C++, MatLab)
- Familiarity and experience in working with image data
-
- Mastery of fundamental digital image processing methods such as edge detection, color schemes (RGB, HSV, La*b*), pixel morphology, and 2D-linear filtering.
- High motivation and ability to perform both independent and team-based research
-
Desired Skills
- Algorithmic grasp of one or more of the following areas: computational geometry, graph theory, pattern recognition, optimization methods, and machine learning.
- Knowledge of visual psychology notions: e.g., perceptual organization, contour completion, partial Gestalts, etc.
- Practical knowledge of advanced architectures (such as the GPU and the CELL) and high performance computing methods (such as parallel programming and large scale computing).
