Summary

Postdoctoral Position in Optical Spectroscopy of Nanoscale Materials: The Softmatter Nanotechnology and Advanced Spectroscopy Team (http://quantumdot.lanl.gov/) of the Chemistry Division (C) is seeking outstanding candidates to join our projects on the spectroscopic characterization of nanoscale semiconductor and metal structures. The suite of spectroscopic tools available in the Team includes several amplified femtosecond lasers coupled to systems for transient absorption and transient holography, photoluminescence up-conversion, and time-correlated single-photon counting. We also have a strong effort in single-nanoparticle spectroscopy using micro-photoluminescence and near-field methods. A new system for ultrafast and single-dot spectroscopies in high magnetic fields is under development.

Required Skills

Strong background in one or several areas from the following list: ultrafast spectroscopy, single-molecule (quantum-dot) spectroscopy, near-field microscopy/spectroscopy, and high-magnetic field spectroscopy. Demonstrated ability to work productively on multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Demonstrated experience in gathering and interpreting technical data. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Desired Skills

Knowledge of ultrafast lasers, near-field hardware, Labview software and programming, solid-state physics, and non-linear optics.

Education

A Ph.D. completed within the last five years or soon to be completed is required.

Notes To Applicants

For additional technical inquiries, contact Victor Klimov at klimov@lanl.gov.

Pre-Employment Drug Test

The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a pre-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Government Conflict of Interest

To ensure that you and LANL avoid any potential conflicts of interest, all current/former Government Officials must read and respond, if applicable, to the LANL Applicant Disclosure Form.
