In general, benefit rates are placed in tables. The top row
displays one set of criteria and the left side column displays
another set.
(In this example, percentage of disability and
dependency level.)
The reader chooses
a row from
the left side column and a column from the
top row. Where those two choices intersect is the rate payable based on
the conditions shown in the table. (In this example, $323.00 is the rate for a
30% disabled veteran who has a dependent spouse.)
Some tables have few
conditions, some have more. Sometimes there are add-in rates, such as Aid &
Attendance (A&A) allowances. Occasionally calculations must be made to
determine the rate.
Footnotes can also appear in a table. When they do
