About the NHSC Loan Repayment Program
  Question
What is the NHSC Loan Repayment Program?
  Answer

The National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program (NHSC LRP) is one way the NHSC works with communities to recruit health care professionals committed to serving the needs of underserved populations.

The NHSC LRP is a competitive program.

Clinicians from eligible primary care, dental and mental health disciplines enter into a contract that commits them to full-time clinical service at an approved site in a designated Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) of greatest need if they are selected to receive an award. In return for this service, NHSC LRP participants receive money to repay qualifying educational loans that are still owed. For complete eligibility, benefit and application information, as well as links to the on-line application and supplemental forms, see the NHSC LRP Applicant Information Bulletin.
