Emergency Analyst - Region V

Daniel F. Brown is an Emergency Analyst for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), located at the Chicago office of FEMA Region V. Selected to his position in February 2007, he serves as a senior advisor to the Regional Administrator, providing support on the formulation, development, integration and evaluation of regional plans, operations and programs.

Mr. Brown previously held the position of response operations team leader and the planning section chief on the Regional Support Team from July 2000 until February 2007. He served as the public assistance officer and as the planning section chief on more than 30 major disasters. Mr. Brown instructed FEMA's National Training Team and helped pilot and test new offerings for FEMA reservists in Public Assistance and Response Operations. He began his career with FEMA in March 1993 as an emergency management program specialist. 

Prior to joining FEMA, Mr. Brown worked in the private sector as a consultant and as a corporate officer at direct marketing firms. He served as a master instructor and branch chief at the U.S. Army Engineer School. He also served on active duty in the U.S. Army for four years and was an aviator in an assault helicopter company. 

Mr. Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Rutgers University and an M.B.A. in manpower development from Widener University (Chester, Pennsylvania).
