New Hampshire Learns Key Findings of Flood Impact Mitigation Study

URS Corporation recently completed work on a study that was undertaken to investigate causes of recent flooding in south-central and southeastern New Hampshire.  An independent review panel offered insight into the results of the study, which will help N.H. citizens plan for flood events and allow federal, state and local officials to mitigate the impacts of future flooding.  Full Story

FEMA's Region I Mitigation Division, led by Division Director Kevin Merli, is committed to excellent customer service through solid partnerships with our state, local and tribal counterparts.  Its mission is reflective of FEMA's national Mitigation Directorate - to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters. 

The Region I Mitigation Division covers the six New England states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire Rhode Island and Vermont .  Members of our staff are experts in various aspects of mitigation, and specialize in activities conducted within our branches.

Rhode Island, FEMA Welcome New State Floodplain Coordinator

Michelle Burnett recently joined the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) as the new State Floodplain Coordinator.  She joined RIEMA with over eight years of experience dealing with environmental issues. She began her career at the Rhode Island Department of Health administering the Bathing Beaches Program.  Full Story
