Nearby Destinations
There are a number of interesting destinations in
the vicinity of the Power Vista, starting with the Falls and Niagara Falls State Park,
America's oldest state park.
And while you're at the Falls, you can enjoy the view from the
Maid of the Mist.
The Aquarium of Niagara,
in Niagara Falls, offers a variety of daily activities and special
events.
The
Castellani Art Museum,
adjacent to the Power Vista at Niagara University, displays a
distinguished collection of contemporary art.
Artpark, a
picturesque New York State Park located high atop the Niagara River
Gorge, not far from the Power Vista, celebrates the arts, offering
Broadway musicals, swinging big band concerts and celebrity performances
in its Mainstage Theater and free concerts, music and cultural festivals
in the Outdoor Amphitheater.
Old Fort Niagara,
overlooking Lake Ontario at the entrance to the Niagara River in
nearby Youngstown, is a National Historic Landmark and New York
State Historical Site.
At the
Lockport Locks, just 20 miles from Niagara Falls, you can enjoy
a unique two-hour boat cruise which includes "locking through" and
being raised the 49 ft. elevation of the Niagara Escarpment in the
only double set of locks on the Erie Canal.

Orchards,

miles east of the Falls, has a country store and tea room and offers
visits to its barn, which was a stop on the "Underground Railroad" for
people escaping from slavery during the 1850s and 1860s.
The
Buffalo Museum of
Science, on Humboldt Parkway, has a number of interesting exhibits,
as well as special events. A Power Authority-installed
solar
photovoltaic system is located on the museum's roof.
