OFEE Supports Federal Drive for Sustainability

On August 8, 2002, John Howard, the Federal Environmental Executive, met with the Federal Network for Sustainability and signed their Statement of Unity. He joined a growing list of more than 20 federal officials from all major agencies on the west coast and at headquarters in Washington, D.C. supporting this effort "for demonstrating Federal leadership on sustainability." These agencies, including the Office of the Federal Environmental Executive, are working together on several specific initiatives, including improving electronic products stewardship, using environmental management systems, purchasing green power, and purchasing more environmentally preferable copier paper. This dynamic group is getting results and is showing that the federal government is a leader in sustainable environmental stewardship.
