  • Thank you for your comment-it was particularly beautiful last night so I took the opportunity to try some experimentation with settings on my camera...... and used a tree branch as a tripod!!

I must say I am quite pleased with the result.

  • Your comment made me laugh-I think I know what you mean?? One or two of my moon shots produced some odd results which  think were due to my lack of a tripod in combination with using a slow shutter speed. After a couple of egg-shaped moons I rested my camera in the fork of a low branch of a tree to take this one!!! I really need to find my tripod!!!!

  • The first thing that pops into my head would be a vine that was wrapped tightly around it and it grew the best way it could? Wire is another possibility? Cool pic!

  • I don't need to emphasize the progress made since the King era.  Most people in this blog recognize the progress we made as a society.

Eventhough our society has changed, there is still much work that needs to be done.  Reviewing  ronaldb8179 comments, it is evident that resentment is still prevailant.

I could go into the many examples from 2008 why affirmative actions is still required, but instead I will provide some fact based knowledge.  The Civil Rights bill was ratified in 1971.  Do you really think that the mentality concerning minorities, especially African Americans that existed for over two centuries would change in 38 years?  If you can say so than there is not reason to continue our conversation.

The small mindiness of people like  ronaldb8179 is not the only thing that slows racial progress.  The inferior mentallity of some minorities themselves hinder progress.  I can only speak for African-Americans for obvious reasons.  That segment of the black population is actually the minority of our population, but even in the "New America", they are the focus point of our culture.  When 60% of blacks live in the suburbs, why does the news consist of the problems in the 40% lower class.  Why does the news consistently air stories of whites doing good and poor blacks doing bad.  The black boy in MD that broke the code on the I Phone and was able to get Sprint Service on his phone didn't make the news, but every gang shooting in DC and Prince Georges county does.  Something to think about.

I know I am commenting on a NC page.  My family moved down there a month ago, so I'm going to be reading your news, get use to it.
