The Three R's of Working With Children:
Identifying Risk, Promoting Resilience, and Accessing Resources

March 28, 2008

This one-day conference is designed to explore key psychosocial risk factors for children, identify strategies for promoting resilience, and refine social work skills for accessing critically needed resources.

 Participants will learn:

  • Psychosocial risk factors for children facing physical and mental illnesses
  • Clinical interventions that establish and preserve resilience among children and families
  • Refined skills for overcoming structural obstacles inherent in attempting to access critically needed resources for children at risk

6.0 Category I CEUs will be awarded through The Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to all participants who attend the full conference and submit an evaluation form.

SECURITY INFORMATION:

The NIH campus has strict security measures in effect.  Please bring a picture identification with your date of birth to obtain an NIH Visitor’s pass.  Allow fifteen (15) minutes for the security clearance.  Comprehensive security information can be viewed at: http://security.nih.gov

You are encouraged to use public transportation.  The Metro Red Line, Medical Center stop, is located on the NIH campus.  The campus shuttles run every ten (10) minutes to the Lister Hill Auditorium, Building 38A.

PARKING:

There is a fee for parking.  Visitor parking is extremely limited and parking restrictions are strictly enforced.  Visitors driving will undergo a vehicle inspection.
