Internet Session Looks at Immigrant Health

The HRSA-sponsored DataSpeak series -- interactive Internet and telephone conferences on topics involving U.S. women, children and families -- will present its June 13 session on immigrant health from 2 to 3 p.m. EDT.

“The Health of Immigrant Populations: Coverage, Access, and Outcomes” will include an overview by Julie Hudman of the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured.  Stella Yu, researcher from HRSA’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau, will discuss studies on the health and well-being of immigrant children.

Immigrants made up 11 percent of the U.S. population in 2000.  They are more likely than native-born citizens to lack health care coverage and receive fewer health services.
