The
Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations
(AAPCHO) honored HRSA’s Regan Crump, D.P.H., March 19 for his
work to improve access to health care for the nation’s Asian,
Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities.
Crump
is director of the Division of Programs for Special Populations
in HRSA’s Bureau of Primary Health Care. The division
is responsible for providing preventive and primary health care
services for homeless people, public housing residents, Asian
Americans and Pacific Islanders, low-income school-aged children,
Native Hawaiians, and miners with black lung disease.
“I
am truly flattered to receive this honor,” Crump said.
“However, everything we do in support of Asian Americans and
Pacific Islanders is done by virtue of a President who cares,
a supportive HRSA Administrator, leadership from the BPHC Director,
and excellent staff in the Division of Programs for Special
Populations.”
A
national organization, AAPCHO works to improve the provision
of health care services that are community driven, financially
affordable, linguistically accessible, and culturally appropriate
for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders
in the United States.
The Washington, D.C., reception
honoring Crump was hosted by AAPCHO, along with the Asian and
Pacific Islander American Health Forum, the National Coalition
for Asian Pacific American Community Development, and the Congressional
Asian Pacific American Caucus.
