HRSA Offers D.C. Workshop to Help Providers Screen Patients for Alcohol Problems

HHS’s Health Resources and Services Administration today announced a second free workshop to help health care providers learn how to screen patients for alcohol problems.

The workshop will be held Feb. 6 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Gallaudet University’s Kellogg Conference Center, 800 Florida Avenue, N.E., Washington, D.C.  The training is being offered to help providers prepare for National Alcohol Screening Day, scheduled for April 11.  Clinicians, administrators and other staff of public health departments, hospitals, mental health and health clinics, and advocacy and prevention groups are encouraged to attend.  Attendance at a workshop is not required to participate in National Alcohol Screening Day.

To register for the free workshop, contact Stacey O’Halloran at (781) 239-0071, ext. 129, by Feb. 4.  For more information on National Alcohol Screening Day, see the related HRSA News Brief issued Jan. 8, 2002, at http://www.hrsa.gov/Newsroom/NewsBriefs/2002/alcoholscreening.htm.
