Important Notice Concerning Presidential Signatures

This notice concerns the Presidential Memorial Certificate (PMC) program and the up-coming transition between the President Bush and President-elect Obama administrations. By law our program is only allowed to use the current President's signature for the PMC. On Jan. 20, 2009, that signatory will change to President Obama.

It is our intent to fully process all of the requests that reach our office by the 9th of January 2009 while the current President is still in office. These requests should bear the signature of President Bush. Requests received after Jan. 9, 2009, and before Jan. 14, 2009, may have President Bush’s signature, but this cannot be guaranteed.

All requests received on or after Jan. 14, 2009, will have President Obama’s signature.

For a short period of time the signatory change will cause an interruption in producing certificates. Until we obtain an authorized signature from President Obama we will not be able to print any certificates. Please continue to send your requests as you normally would, and they will be produced and mailed as soon as possible.  

If you are a funeral industry professional or a veterans service officer, please explain this to our veterans, loved ones, and next of kin whenever possible. Your advocacy and support are greatly appreciated.
