The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act
The SCRA protects members of the Armed Forces and members of the National Guard and other Reserve components
called to active duty (starting on the date active duty orders are received) and, in limited situations,
their dependents. On June 18, 2004, the OCC issued guidance to national banks explaining their
responsibilities under the law. Servicemembers may also want to consult a guide issued by the
U.S. Coast Guard that explains all aspects of the law.
