FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORTH BLENHEIM—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will celebrate the holiday season again this year with the annual Festival of Trees and Photos with Santa at the admission-free visitors center at NYPA’s Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Project.

Festival of Trees

The beauty of the season will be on display from Dec. 3 through Jan. 2 at the sixth annual Festival of Trees.  More than 15 evergreens gracing the visitor center grounds will be decorated in a variety of holiday themes by local community groups, including the Allen Residential Center, Landis Arboretum, Jefferson Central School, Stamford Historical Society, Summit Seniors, Summit Red Hat Society, Roxbury Central School, Jefferson Seniors, Gilboa-Conesville Central School, Mine Kill State Park and Middleburgh Girl Scout Troop. In addition, NYPA staff members will be on hand to dispense energy tips for the holidays.

Santa will be in-residence from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. to hear wish lists and pose for photos. Each child will also receive a special NYPA ornament. A free raffle will be held for a package of energy-efficient holiday tree lights.

The visitors center, which features numerous hands-on exhibits on such subjects as basics of electricity, uses of electricity and operation of the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project, is located in a restored 19th-century dairy barn on Route 30, 17 miles south of Middleburgh, five miles north of Grand Gorge and about 50 miles southwest of Albany.

School groups and community organizations are welcome. The center will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the festival except for Dec. 24, 25, 31 and New Year’s Day.  For more information, call 1-800-724-0309 or visit NYPA on the Web at www.nypa.gov.
