Every February, the Mag Lab opens its doors to the public, offering more than 100 science demonstrations to visitors of all ages. It's free, fun and for everyone.

Magnet Mystery Hour
This free lecture series aims to educate the public and provide direct access to working scientists.

Learning Opportunities

Mag Lab U

Science in Literature
Textbooks aren’t the only place you find science. Library shelves are full of tales that weave science, drama and suspense together.

Flux
Written in layman's terms, this magazine provides a window into the Magnet Lab's culture of curiosity-based research and focus on educating the next generation of scientists.

Parents and Children Share Science
These workshops, offered in partnership with LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library, show parents how to turn their pre-school and elementary-age kids onto science.

Our partnerships with these groups make us more effective in our common goal of improving science education in our schools and communities.

Middle School Mentorship Program
Students from Tallahassee’s School of Arts and Sciences conduct semester-long research projects at the Mag Lab.

Ruediger Elementary School Partnership
Mag Lab educators demonstrate science activities to teachers in these mini-workshops open to all Leon County elementary school teachers.

Community Classroom Consortium
This consortium provides educational experiences and resources for students, teachers and the general public across North Florida and South Georgia.

Panhandle Area Educational Consortium
PAEC offers science professional development opportunities for K12 teachers. CIRL and the Magnet Lab contribute to this effort by providing workshops, research experiences and curriculum materials in support of improving student achievement.

Tallahassee Scientific Society
TSS is a group of laypersons, scientists, engineers and educators dedicated to increasing scientific literacy in the Tallahassee/Big Bend area. The Mag Lab coordinates with TSS on science education issues and programs.
