Nursing Scholarship Program

 

Applicant Update

  • 2008 On-Line Application closed effective June 6, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. ET. You may still log in, view your application, update your profile (name, address, phone, e-mail, password) and verify that your on-line application and forms have been received.
  • Applicants selected to receive a Nursing Scholarship Program award will be notified between July 1 and September 30, 2008.
  • Applicants not selected will be notified in October 2008, provided they submitted a complete application.

About the Nursing Scholarship Program
In exchange for at least two years service at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses, the Nursing Scholarship Program pays
Eligible Applicants
  • U.S. citizens or nationals (permanent residents are not eligible)
  • enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited school of nursing in a professional registered nurse program (baccalaureate, graduate, associate degree, or diploma)
  • begin classes for the Fall term on or after July 1 and no later than September 30
  • free from any Federal judgment liens
  • free from existing service commitments
  • not delinquent on a Federal debt
  • more applicant eligibility information from the Applicant Information Bulletin
Selection Criteria

Preference is given to qualified applicants with the greatest financial need who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate nursing program.

We estimate that 220 new qualified applicants will be selected to receive the scholarship in FY 2008 and that all will be from the first funding preference group:

  • have a zero Expected Family Contribution (EFC) on the Student Aid Report from the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA) and
  • are enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an undergraduate nursing program as full-time students
  • More funding preference information from the Applicant Information Bulletin
Last Year's Applicants
  • 4,894 eligible applications
  • 574 applicants with first preference for funding
  • 172 applicants given scholarship awards
