FLETC Presents “Honor Graduate of the Year” Award to U.S. Secret Service Special Agent

The FLETC presented its “Honor Graduate of the Year” Award for 2007 to U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Georg A. Wagner during a ceremony on Sept. 16. This award is presented annually to the FLETC basic training honor graduate having the highest academic average.

Special Agent Wagner graduated from the FLETC’s Criminal Investigator Training Program Class 744 on December 10, with an academic average of 98.34, firearms score of 288 out of a possible 300, and a Physical Efficiency Battery average of 95.25. He also received several awards while attending FLETC, including the Distinguished Fitness Award, the Academic Award, and the Distinguished Expert Award in Firearms.

The guest speaker for the event was United States Secret Service Director Mark J. Sullivan.

"As I remind the men and women of my agency time and again, any agency is only as strong as its people. And the strength of our people comes not only from their inherent character, but from the training they receive at every stage of their careers,” said Director Sullivan

Past recipients of the FLETC Honor Graduate of the Year Award have included officers and agents with the Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, National Park Service, U.S. Capitol Police, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, General Services Administration, Department of State, U.S. Secret Service, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

“Special Agent Wagner, along with all of the other graduates and Honor Graduates who join him, validate FLETC's commitment to providing strong, collaborative leadership in law enforcement training,” said FLETC Director Connie Patrick. “We know that there is no substitute for quality training as the foundation for maintaining effective and unbiased law enforcement.”

Special Agent Wagner earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and German from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and a Master of Science Degree in Law Enforcement Policy from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point.

Prior to his employment with the U.S. Secret Service, Wagner worked in the law enforcement field for ten years in Illinois and Wisconsin, graduating from both the Illinois State Police Academy and the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy. In his previous position, Wagner was the Acting Investigative Supervisor for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Environmental Crimes Unit. In that position, Wagner also served as a firearms and defensive tactics instructor, evidence technician, and undercover officer.

Wagner is assigned to the Financial Crimes Squad of the U.S. Secret Service’s Chicago Field Office.
