Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Director Honored with Presidential Rank Award for Federal Service

Glynco, GA November 07, 2005

Connie L. Patrick, a member of the Federal government’s Senior Executive Service (SES), was recently recognized for exceptionally distinguished service with the Presidential Rank Award. Winners of this prestigious award are strong professional leaders who achieve results and consistently demonstrate strength, integrity, industry, and a relentless commitment to excellence in public service.

Mrs. Patrick is currently the Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) headquartered at Glynco, GA. A bureau of the Department of Homeland Security, the FLETC trains the majority of Federal officers and agents, graduating approximately 50,000 students annually, making it the largest law enforcement training organization in the country. It serves 82 Federal agencies and provides training to state, local, tribal, and international police.

Mrs. Patrick was selected as the FLETC Director in 2002, after previously serving as the FLETC Associate Director for Planning and Workforce Development and as Director of General Training. Prior to her employment at the FLETC, Patrick completed a distinguished career in law enforcement with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

"I am honored and humbled by my selection to receive this prestigious award,” said Director Patrick. “It is through the tireless support of my staff day in and day out that enabled me to be nominated and win this award.”

The President’s Rank Award for Distinguished Service may be given to only one percent of the nearly 7,800 career SES. Award winners are chosen through a rigorous selection process. They are nominated by their agency heads, evaluated by boards of private citizens, and approved by the President. The evaluation criterion focuses on leadership and results. Recipients receive a cash award and a framed certificate signed by the President.

Mrs. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida.  She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute and the Federal Executive Institute.  She is active in many international and national law enforcement organizations, as well as local civic clubs and councils.  The native of Titusville, FL, is married with four children, and one grandchild.
