Congressional Documents: Search

Congressional documents originate from congressional committees and cover a wide variety of topics and may include reports of executive departments and independent organizations, reports of special investigations made for Congress, and annual reports of non-governmental organizations. The database for the current Congress is updated irregularly, as electronic versions of the documents become available.

Search: (e.g. "State of the Union message" , "109-22", "h. doc. 109-32")
[ Search Tips ]

  • To search by document number, enter (in quotes) either "h." for House of Representatives or "s." for Senate, followed by "doc." and the number. For example, "h. doc.109-17".
  • To search for a document number in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, enter (in quotes) the number only. For example, "109-26".
  • To narrow a search, use the Boolean operators ADJ (adjacent), AND, OR and NOT. For example: "district of columbia" AND expenses.
  • To find variations on words, truncation can be used.For example: legislat* will retrieve both legislation and legislative.
