Online Archive
of Past American Folklife Center Events

Available from the following list are flyer essays, event website pages, photographs, and webcasts of presentations from past events. The materials available online will vary with each event. If an event was recorded for webcast, the webcast may not become available until six months or more after the event. In some instances part, but not all, of an event was recorded for webcast. Recordings may be available in the Folklife Reading Room for an event or parts of an event that were audio-recorded or videotaped, but not produced as a webcast. For currently scheduled events, go to the What's Happening at the American Folklife Center page.

National Visionary Leadership Project Collection Showcase Running time 55:53
The Library of Congress celebrated African American History Month in 2008 with its signature event — a showcase of the American Folklife Center's National Visionary Leadership Project (NVLP) Collection. The NVLP is a collection of oral life histories of extraordinary African American elders who have made significant contributions to American society, and the American Folklife Center is the official repository for these stories. [The link goes directly to the webcast of the event. Further information is available on that page.]

Northern Ireland Concerts and Lectures:
2007 events: In 2007 the Library of Congress hosted a symposium, lectures, and concerts in connection with the Rediscover Northern Ireland Programme. Select the link for more information and available webcasts.

2008 events: In 2008 the Rediscover Northern Ireland Programme continued, with events hosted by the American Folklife Center, including a concert by Tommy Sands and family, and lectures by Len Graham and Maurice Leydan. Select the link for more information and available webcasts.

Symposia and Related Events Online Archive
Select this link for past American Folklife Center symposia and related events. These will be made available when the webcasts and other digital materials have been created and compiled. In some cases parts of the event, such as evening receptions, are not recorded for webcast. The earliest symposium, presented in 2000, was only partially recorded for webcast.
