Division of Risk Management

Our division is an integral part of the Department of Administrative Services. Our role is to provide insurance coverage for all state agencies. This coverage includes liability insurance, property insurance, and vehicle coverage. Included in this coverage group are all state universities and colleges, school districts and most of the charter schools.

  • Risk Focus Groups

  • The Division of Risk Management has scheduled four focus group discussions during the month of January to address how we can better serve our covered entities. The dates and times scheduled for each group are outlined below. All of the groups will meet at the Utah State Library for the Blind & Disabled, Room 219, 250 North 1950 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84116.

    Among the topics we hope to discuss are the self-inspection survey; the fire sprinkler test rebate program; quarterly training value and effectiveness; other training needs; site inspections; administrative rule conflicts and other topics that are important to you.

RiskWatch is the official publication of the Division of Risk Management. This quarterly publication is put out in order to inform our clients of events and news that might be beneficial to them. Articles are provided by our staff, as well as outside writers. Please open it up and take a look. You can save the publication and share it with a friend.

Teleconference and time change to the agenda 

Tuesday, January 27th, 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm a teleconference will be held with the roundtable starting at 1:30. The location will be the State Library for the Blind. We will be hearing from Chandra Fenwick MS, CPCI, Program Director of NAMI Utah for the roundtable.

“Work at Home/Altered Work Schedules as an Accommodation” Teleconference

Speakers: Robin Jones, Director, DBTAC-Great Lakes ADA Center,and Sharon Rennert, Senior Attorney Advisor, Americans With Disabilities Act Division, EEOC  

The ADA and reasonable accommodation: does it include work at home or an obligation to provide an altered work schedule? This session will discuss these concepts as they apply to reasonable accommodation and explore what the courts are saying and how the EEOC guidance in this area is useful in determining whether or not it is “reasonable” for your organization.

Location and Hours

The Division of Risk Management in support of Governor Huntsman's "Working 4 Utah" initiative has changed their hours. Our new hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We are closed Friday and Saturday. If you have questions about our office hours, please call 801-538-9560.
