The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today reaffirmed its affirmative determinations in connection with the remand of its five-year (sunset) reviews of imports of magnesium from Canada.

The Commission found on remand that revoking the existing countervailing duty orders covering pure magnesium and alloy magnesium from Canada and the existing antidumping duty order on imports of pure magnesium from Canada would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to an industry in the United States within a reasonably foreseeable time.

All five Commissioners voted in the affirmative.

The reviews involving these products were remanded to the ITC by the NAFTA Binational Panel on July 16, 2002. The ITC previously had made affirmative determinations on July 13, 2000.

The ITC's remand determinations will be delivered to the NAFTA Binational Panel by October 15, 2002.
