ITC MAKES DETERMINATIONS IN FIVE-YEAR (SUNSET) REVIEW REMAND CONCERNING CORROSION-RESISTANT CARBON STEEL FLAT PRODUCTS FROM FRANCE AND GERMANY

The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today reaffirmed its affirmative determinations in connection with the remand of its five-year (sunset) reviews of imports of corrosion-resistant carbon steel flat products from France and Germany.

The Commission found on remand that revoking the existing countervailing duty and antidumping duty orders on imports of corrosion-resistant carbon steel flat products from France and Germany would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to an industry in the United States within a reasonably foreseeable time.

All five Commissioners voted in the affirmative.

The reviews involving these products were remanded to the ITC by the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT) on July 19, 2002. The ITC previously had made affirmative determinations on November 2, 2000.

The ITC's remand determinations will be delivered to the CIT by September 18, 2002.

The ITC's public report Corrosion-Resistant Carbon Steel Flat Products from France and Germany (Views on Remand) (Invs. Nos. 701-TA-348-349 and 731-TA-615-616 (Review) (Remand), USITC Publication 3539, September 2002) will contain the views of the Commission. Copies of the report are expected to be available after October 9, 2002, by calling 202-205-1809 or from the Office of the Secretary, 500 E Street SW, Washington, DC 20436. Requests may also be faxed to 202-205-2104.
