The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of stainless steel angle from Japan, Korea, and Spain that are allegedly sold in the United States at less than fair value.

Chairman Stephen Koplan, Vice Chairman Deanna Tanner Okun, and Commissioners Lynn M. Bragg, Marcia E. Miller, Jennifer A. Hillman, and Thelma J. Askey made affirmative determinations.

As a result of the Commission's affirmative determinations, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its antidumping investigations of imports of stainless steel angle from Japan, Korea, and Spain, with its preliminary antidumping duty determinations due on or about January 25, 2001.

The Commission's public report Stainless Steel Angle from Japan, Korea, and Spain (Investigations Nos. 731-TA-888-890 (Preliminary), USITC Publication 3356, October 2000) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the investigations.

Product Description: The imported product subject to these investigations is hot-rolled stainless steel angle of equal leg length. Stainless steel angle is produced in straight lengths and has an "L" shaped cross-section. Stainless steel angle that is produced by processes other than hot rolling or that has legs of unequal length is not subject to these investigations. Stainless steel is an alloy steel containing, by weight, 1.2 percent or less of carbon and 10.5 percent or more of chromium, with or without other elements.
