The exhibition featured drawings by Swiss and German artists of the Renaissance, drawn from the collections of the Kupferstichkabinett, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, and the Öffentliche Kunstsammlung Basel, Kupferstichkabinett. 190 works dating from 1465 to 1545 by Martin Schongauer, Hans Holbein the Elder, Matthias Grünewald, Hans Baldung, Albrecht Altdorfer, Urs Graf, Hans Holbein the Younger, and other artists were shown. An earlier version of the exhibition was presented in Basel in 1997 and in Berlin in 1998.
