USPTO Recognizes Diversity through Community Day Celebration
“Working together to make a difference” is this year's theme

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, May 22, the Department of Commerce's United States Patent and Trademark (USPTO) will hold its 12th annual Community Day celebrating the agency’s continuing commitment to employ a workforce drawn from all segments of society.

This year’s celebration will feature remarks from USPTO Director Jon W. Dudas and Deputy Director Margaret J.A. Peterlin. The United States Navy Drill Team will demonstrate their discipline and precision exhibited through execution of a close order drill performance. The T.C. Williams High School Marching Band will fill the streets with music as they lead a parade through the agency’s campus.

Community Day will feature exhibitors and vendors, live music, a health fair, and international games, foods and dress representing the diversity of USPTO's workforce.

This year's celebration also will include the popular annual custom automobile and motorcycle show.
