Assessment & Monitoring

Dolly Varden char in spawning colors. USFWS/Doug Palmer. We monitor and assess salmon, trout and resident species populations in south central Alaska and the Kuskokwim River watershed. Fish are vital to the ecological, economical, and cultural health of these regions. Rivers and lakes provide rearing and spawning habitat for fish that are important for subsistence, commercial, and sport fishing. Monitoring and assessment projects provide information used to conserve these valuable fishery resources.
