Clinical Trial Development Awards for Evaluating Effectiveness of Treatment-Diagnostic Combinations

The first round of applications for this RFA was reviewed in April 2007. Two applications entitled, "Bayesian Adaptive Methods with Pharmacogenomics to Treat Bladder Cancer" and "Statistical Designs for Marker Validation Studies in Treatment Selections for Colon Cancer" have thus far been approved for funding.

This RFA will be extended as follows:

Letters of Intent will be accepted:

  • April 1, 2008
  • October 1, 2008
  • April 1, 2009

Applications, with approved Letters of Intent, will be accepted on:

  • June 1, 2008
  • December 1, 2008
  • June 1, 2009

Letters of Intent should follow these instructions: Email LOI to: vhacocenter@va.gov with the following information:

  1. Principal Investigator's Name, Degree and VA appointment (in eighths)
  2. VA Medical Center
  3. Title of Proposal
  4. Keywords (up to six keywords covering major topic areas and any special methodology
  5. List of collaborating investigators. Include names, VA and/or university affiliation, laboratory locations of personnel to contribute more than 5% effort.
  6. Briefly describe individual expertise relative to this RFA (e.g., clinical trialist, biostatistician, epidemiologist, etc.) and the % effort to be dedicated to this program.
  7. Abstract (limit to two pages, single spaced) to include information that clearly describes both Stage 1 and Stage 2. Note: Stage 1, that involves the development of a novel clinical trial design or biostatistical strategy to evaluate the effectiveness of the diagnosis-treatment combination, is a critical component of this RFA and will be evaluated for responsiveness to the RFA.
  8. Requests for exception, if required, to the CSRD single-project rule. Applicants will be notified by Email whether the LOI is approved. Revised LOIs that do not meet the stated objectives or do not contain the requested information will be disapproved.
