CERTIFIED CODER—HEALTH CARE--ALASKA

Because of continued growth, our client, Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation (BBAHC), located in Dillingham, Alaska, is seeking qualified candidates for a Certified Coder to join their team. Dillingham is a remote (air or boat access only) community of 2,500 recognized for its exceptional commercial and sport fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. Through a contract with the Indian Health Service (IHS), BBAHC provides health care services to the native population of the region at Kanakanak Hospital and 32 native village clinics in the Bristol Bay area.

The Certified Coder will process and analyze charts for completeness, accuracy and relevance of diagnoses and procedures; assign ICD-9-CM codes to all diagnoses and procedures; assign CPT codes to appropriate procedures using coding guidelines; complete deficiency slips and route incomplete charts to providers.

Qualified candidates will possess a high school diploma/GED and AACP certification; minimum of one year clerical experience in an office setting preferably in a medical records environment; a thorough understanding of medical terminology; a working knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding systems; excellent verbal and written communication skills; exceptional attention to detail; and the ability to live/work in a remote geographic area

Because of the immediacy of our needs, only those candidates who are U.S. citizens or can provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. will be considered. For immediate, confidential consideration, please submit your resume and salary history to:
