Mike Styler, Executive Director Natural Resources
Michael Styler is married to LuAnn Swain. They have two married daughters and a son on an LDS mission. Styler has been involved all his
life with natural resource issues from public lands to water. He is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys rock hounding, fishing and hunting.
Styler is also involved with several sportsmen and conservation groups.
Styler is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a double major in Agricultural Economics and Business Education.
Styler is the Executive Director for the Utah Department of Natural Resources. Appointed by the Governor, Styler is a member of the
Governor's Cabinet. He is administrative leader of a state agency with more than 1,200 employees and a budget of approximately $83 million.
Mr. Styler manages seven divisions: 1) Forestry, Fire and State Lands, 2) Oil, Gas and Mining, 3) Parks and Recreation, 4) Utah Geological
Survey, 5) Water Rights, 6) Water Resources and 7) Wildlife Resources. He also manages the department's administrative office including
the Natural Resources Policy Group and the Utah Energy Office and is responsible for coordination and cooperation among these divisions
and offices.
