Kimberly K. Hood

Kimberly K. Hood

Having worked in private industry and served in numerous public policy positions, Kimberly K. Hood brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to government. In 2006, she was appointed by Governor Jon Huntsman to be the Executive Director for the Department of Administrative Services. Her department oversees the construction of new state and higher education buildings, risk management, fleet operations, central finance, purchasing and all other general services for government agencies.

While in the private sector she served as the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer for the Oquirrh Institute, a not-for-profit public policy center organized for former governors and industry leaders to work out innovative solutions for difficult problems. Primary areas of interest include health care, education, and the environment.

Today her greatest challenge is to, not only reach but surpass, Governor Huntsman's aggressive goal of increasing energy efficiency 20 percent by 2015. In addition he has challenged the state to take big steps to reduce Utah's carbon footprint. To ensure success of the program, Kim is active in building community partnerships and gaining support from fellow Cabinet members, the Governor's Office and the Legislature.

Kim earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Economics from the University of Utah. Her work concentrated on econometrics, health care, and industrial organization. She is married to Dr. Robert S. Hood and together they have five children, five grandchildren, and two Yorkie puppies.
