General Officer Assignments

 
            The Army chief of staff announces the assignment of the following officers:
 
            Maj. Gen. Richard J. Sherlock, special assistant to the director of operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C., to director for plans and programs, U.S. Africa Command.
 
            Brig. Gen.James C. Boozer Sr., assistant division commander (maneuver), 1st Armored Division, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, to deputy commanding general, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command, Alexandria, Va.
 
            Brig. Gen.William N. Phillips, commanding general, Picatinny Arsenal/ commander, Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command/ program executive officer, ammunition, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., to commander, Joint Contracting Command, Multi-National Forces-Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq.
 
            Col. Edward M. Reeder Jr., who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, executive officer to the commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla, to commander, Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command - Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.
 
            Col. Jess A. Scarbrough, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, assistant deputy for acquisition and systems management, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (acquisition, logistics and technology), Washington, D.C., to joint program executive officer for chemical and biological defense, Falls Church, Va.
