IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 011-09
January 07, 2009

National Guard (In Federal Status) And Reserve Activated as of January 6, 2009

This week the Air Force announced an increase, while the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps announced a decrease.  The Coast Guard number remained unchanged. The net collective result is 265 fewer reservists activated than last week.

At any given time, services may activate some units and individuals while deactivating others, making it possible for these figures to either increase or decrease.  The total number currently on active duty from the Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 95,831; Navy Reserve, 5,908; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 13,230; Marine Corps Reserve, 8,152; and the Coast Guard Reserve, 906. This brings the total National Guard and Reserve personnel who have been activated to 124,027, including both units and individual augmentees.

A cumulative roster of all National Guard and Reserve personnel who are currently activated can be found at http://preview.defenselink.mil/news/Jan2009/d20090106ngr.pdf
