  • Africa South of the Sahara: Rwanda
    An extensive collection of well-annotated links compiled by Karen Fung at Stanford University for the African Studies Association. Includes links to email lists, special projects, databases and archives, articles and documents, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), news and general sources. Organized alphabetically within country listing. The web site also has regional and topical categories of links, as well as a a site searching capability.
  • Center for African Studies: Rwanda Page
    Varied selection of annotated links from the Center for African Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, covering general information, country map and other collections of links.
  • Index on Africa: Country pages: Rwanda
    The web site for Index on Africa, a project of the Norwegian Council for Africa, contains extensive annotated links, organized by news pages, subject pages and country pages. Within each individual country page, links are organized by subject category. Interesting features include the number of links listed for each category, the tabulation of hits on a specific link since it was added to the web page, as well as the opportunity to rate the link. Search capability is available for the web site.

  • African Union
    Successor organization to the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the African Union's web site has news and events, documents, a listing of member states (including Rwanda) and related web links.

United Nations

  • Integrated Regional Information Network (IRIN): Rwanda
    IRIN, a unit of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), provides a clearinghouse of information for humanitarian and international communities on the crises in sub-Saharan Africa. Its web site contains special reports , news briefs organized by country and region, such as Great Lakes and Central Africa. Special reports for Rwanda focus on the 10th anniversary commemorations of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. An e-mail subscription for IRIN reports is also available.
  • International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR)
    UN web site contains press releases and news, decisions, transcripts of hearings, rules of evidence and procedure, security council resolutions, and other links. The web site also includes the texts of indictment, trial chamber decisions, judgement, sentence and appeal chamber decisions rendered by the International Criminal Tribunal of Rwanda (ICTR) against Jean-Paul Akayesu on charges of genocide, September 2, 1998. An overview of ICTR achievements provides a history.
  • International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda, 7 April 2004
    Special section of the United Nations web site devoted to material on the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Includes reports, UN resources and documents, statements, commemorative events, and a 24-hour webcast of UN activities.
  • Reliefweb: Rwanda: The latest
    Sponsored by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), this site provides extensive current news and information on a broad range of humanitarian relief issues in Rwanda and worldwide. The web site includes maps, a archive of documents, links to related sites and a search engine. Includes a special web page for documents related to the Great Lakes region (Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda).
  • United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA)
    Web site of the UN organization based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Includes links to reports, statements, news sources, a database of meetings and events on Africa, related initiatives, a list of member states, ECA partners and links to related web sites and news sources on Africa.
  • UNHCR: RefWorld
    This web site, by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). has databases for country of origin and legal information documents and reports. Pull-down menus allow selection by country and/or subject and a specific search engine feature is also provided. Each country compilation includes links to country reports, legal documents, news and maps.
  • United Nations Human Rights Website: Documents Database
    This database of UN documents can be searched by country, as well as by UN body, mandate, subject, symbol and year. A search by Rwanda retrieves documents organized by year.

  • ReliefWeb Map Centre: Rwanda
    Specialized maps of Rwanda from ReliefWeb covering population, drought, refugee movements, assistance to refugees, food insecurity and other issues. Also has maps for the Great Lakes region of Africa and individual countries within the region. Maps can be sorted by type, source, and keyword and are linked to documents on ReliefWeb.
  • Rwanda: CIA World Factbook
    Country information for Rwanda covering the geography, people, economy, government, and infrastructure. Includes a map.
  • Rwanda Maps
    Maps from the Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection of the University of Texas at Austin for Rwanda, Rwanda and Burundi (1996), Rwanda and Burundi (1975), and shaded relief of Rwanda and Burundi. These maps were produced by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.
