Design for the Environment
The Design for the Environment (DfE) Program is an EPA voluntary partnership program that works directly with industry to integrate health and environmental considerations into business decisions. As a result of its work with various industry sectors, the DfE program developed best practices and other information that can assist purchasers in deciding which products are environmentally preferable. The DfE publications include information on:

  • Equipment and chemical best practices for the automotive refinishing industry,
  • Ingredients used in cleaning products formulations,
  • Technology substitutes for garment and fabric cleaning, including military uniforms, and
  • Alternatives for printing operations.
