Gene-O's Club Hope

Gift Bag Gene-O's Club Hope program was established in 1999 by Mary Kaye Huntsman and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. This program was set up to help the newly diagnosed children know they are not alone. Several children with cancer came together to make a video for the newly diagnosed patient, sharing their stories of hope and inspiration. They also helped put together a bag filled with emotional tools, including Gene-O the bear, their personal stories of hope, a blanket and other items. The bag provides a way for the children to feel that they can be of service to help alleviate the fears of others who may be finding out they too have cancer. This program has given strength, not only to the newly diagnosed, but also to the children who were able to share their experiences.
