VETERANS READJUSTMENT APPOINTMENT (VRA)

Features

  • This program assists eligible veterans of the Vietnam era and the post-Vietnam era.
  • VRA appointees are initially hired for a two-year period in the excepted service.
  • The VRA authority may be used to fill jobs up through GS-11.
  • Veterans with less than 15 years of formal education will participate in a formal training program.
  • VRA appointees are converted to a career or career-conditional appointment following successful completion of the VRA program.

  • Veterans placement offices, Department of Veterans Affairs, job fairs, advertisements.

Eligibility

  • Candidate must have served for a period of more than 180 days active duty, all or part of which occurred after 8/4/64, and have other than a dishonorable discharge.
  • Time limits on eligibility are set under Federal regulations.
