The Practice Selection and Assignment Process is currently
being updated for the current year. Please check back.
The
Recruitment, Training & Support Center (RTSC), of the National
Health Service Corps (NHSC) facilitates the NHSC's mission of
providing clinicians who care for communities in need by providing
an assortment of support services to both clinicians and NHSC
designated sites. The RTSC is here to make your NHSC placement
experience as efficient and enriching as possible. We look forward
to working with you during your placement cycle to assist you
in the match process, follow-up on sites that you have sent your
CV and verify HPSA scores amongst other things.
The RTSC's
Program Advisors will personally guide and assist you in a
variety of NHSC program and placement activities which include:
- Facilitating
the process of identifying potential practice sites and helping
you throughout the placement process
- Maintaining
your current contact information
- Locating,
completing and forwarding NHSC time sensitive materials regarding
placement
The NHSC-RTSC
team is organized into three regional teams. Scholars are assigned
to RTSC Program Advisors based on your school location (if not
graduated) or place of residency. The RTSC Program Advisors work
with prospective and approved NHSC healthcare sites, state and
territory Primary Care Offices and other NHSC partners as well.
The Opportunity
List provides descriptions of all available vacancies for scholars.
Please be aware that this list is updated regularly; in order
to access the most up-to-date list, we strongly recommend that
you access the list online. Once
on the NHSC web site, click on the Job Opportunities
button on the left side, scroll down to the bottom of the page,
and click on the "Search vacancies now" hyperlink. The
opportunity list is a comprehensive list of NHSC-approved healthcare
sites with clinical vacancies. These sites have made a commitment
to building an interdisciplinary team of clinicians with a desire
to improve healthcare access in underserved areas.
Once you have
identified vacancies that interest you on the NHSC On-line Job
Opportunities List, please forward your resume to the site and
contact your RTSC Program Advisor. We will work with you and your
prospective site(s) to facilitate a successful match. Please keep
in mind that some vacancies fill rather quickly and interviewing
at certain locations can be quite competitive. You will receive
additional information about the best way to utilize the opportunities
list at the scholar conference.
To ensure
that NHSC has the proper information to assist you in the process
of practice selection and practice assignment, clinicians must
forward a completed Professional Training and Information Questionnaire
(PTIQ). The questionnaires are available in Adobe Acrobat format:
PTIQ (PDF).
Once you select
an approved NHSC scholar site and receive a job offer, there are
certain documents that must be submitted to your RTSC Program
Advisor. These documents, commonly referred to as “Match Documents,”
are listed below. Your RTSC Program Advisor will offer more specific
details on how to prepare your Match Documents, but we also encourage
you to download the examples provided below.
