Special Holiday greetings from all of us at Air
Force Aid!
I want to take a moment to say "thank you" to the thousands of you that supported
us during 2008. It was a banner year for helping Airmen with another 3,000+ Education Grants
and millions of dollars provided in Emergency Assistance. As we look forward to 2009, we
know we will need your help and support more than ever. I have been asked many times over
the last several months whether we were seeing an increase in requests for assistance and
the short answer is yes, but it has been a relatively gradual increase. However, as we have
entered the holiday season, the number of requests and the magnitude of the problems continue
to rise at an increasing rate! Certainly our economy will recover, but all the indicators
point to a long slow process. Air Force Aid stands ready to help our Air Force family bridge
that gap, but we will need your help. Just like every other charity, we will struggle over
the next few years to meet rising demand despite low returns on our invested assets. Your
continued support is the key to our ability to help Airmen. So in a season of giving, I ask
you to think of your favorite charities, I hope Air Force Aid is in that group, but regardless,
putting a little more in the stocking of your favorite will help us all! The entire staff
joins me in wishing the blessings of the season on you and yours!
