USADF's Guinea Program

In Guinea, the Centre d'Appui au Développement (Center for Development Support, CAD) is a national non-governmental organization created in 2001 by a group of professionals with significant national and international development experience, and with the support of the United States African Development Foundation (USADF).

CAD works to reduce poverty in Guinea through promoting sustainable economic and social development. At the heart of its approach are the use of participatory methods, transparency in management, self-reliance of grassroots communities, and promotion of equal access to available resources. CAD's efforts are focused in the following areas: promoting and developing small and medium enterprises and micro finance institutions; designing and implementing community development programs that integrate natural resource management and HIV/AIDS prevention; and strengthening the capacity of community-based organizations and grassroots communities.
