Besides supplying some of the nation’s cleanest and lowest-cost electricity, the New York Power Authority is one of the premier energy-service organizations. Based on a study of state energy trends, the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy has ranked New York State as the nation's leader in energy savings, and the Power Authority’s award-winning energy-efficiency programs have played a large part in helping the state gain that distinction. By cutting energy costs at close to 2,650 public facilities, we save New York taxpayers over $100 million a year while helping to clean the air by avoiding annual emissions of more than 830,000 tons of greenhouse gases. The electricity saved each year is enough to serve about 300,000 people—about the population of Buffalo.

Our energy efficiency programs have resulted in more than 1,500 energy-saving projects at local, county and state government facilities, public schools and state university campuses, saving tax dollars and energy use and reducing annual greenhouse gas emissions by more than 830,000 tons and dependence on foreign oil by more than 2 million barrels a year.

We offer an ever-expanding range of customized services that benefit taxpayers and the environment.
