Post-Election Survey

The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act requires the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) to submit a report to the Congress following each presidential election year on the effectiveness of our efforts. The report utilizes data collected in the Post-Election Survey, which gauges the absentee voting experience for local election officials and military and overseas citizens, and will assist us in improving this experience and our program. This survey is not the same as the Election Day survey conducted by the Election Assistance Commission.

Local election officials from jurisdictions of all sizes in every state are selected at random to participate in this survey. Those selected will be notified in advance of the information which will be requested by the survey, including the number of Federal Post Card Application forms received, the number of ballots issued, instances in which ballots were not counted and why, and the number of Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot which were received and counted.

To simplify data collection, you may use the spreadsheet available below. We will also email the spreadsheet to participants for whom we have an email address. Maintaining the tracking spreadsheet throughout the year will greatly decrease the time it takes to complete our 2008 Post-Election Survey.
