Introduction to FWD database for Construction Cycle 1 (CC1) The following information is in reference to the pavement test items located at the FAA's NAPTF: Two FWD devices were used. The Engineering & Research International (ERI) equipment was a KUAB Model 150 with a segmented 12" loading plate and a pulse width of 27-30 msec. The FAA equipment used was a KUAB Model 240 (HWD) also configured with a 12" loading plate and a 27-30 msec pulse width. Most of the FWD testing was completed with the FWD tow vehicle facing in the East direction (away from 0 feet). For the PCC longitudinal joint tests, the FWD tow vehicle faced the center of the test item. Please see the test item plan for better detail. All reference offsets refer to the beginning of each NAPTF test item.
FWD testing on the asphalt items are designated by traffic lanes: Some of the asphalt tests have an "A" location designator for the centerline and are not in a traffic lane. PCC test locations are designated: FAA NAPTF test vehicle configuration 6/14/1999 ERI FWD tests conducted with a KUAB Model 150 For these tests, all six traffic lanes were tested. No centerline tests were conducted. 1/11/2000 FAA HWD tests with KUAB Model 240 No centerline tests were conducted. Tests on traffic lanes 2 & 5 only. HFC and HFS: HWD tests discontinued after 5/6/2000. Search FWD By Test Item Last Update:03/03/08 |
